Church of the Ascension

This red brick church was built in 1892 for The Countess of Shaftesbury, the wife of the local landowner. It was designed by G.F.Bodley, who had worked on the Shaftesbury's home church of Wimborne St. Giles, before Sir Ninian Cowper's complete rebuild. He was also responsible for the splendid roof decoration at Shillingstone. The church is normally locked.
