South Transept & Digby Memorial
The south transept is adorned and somewhat dominated by the truly magnificent Baroque monument to John Digby 3rd Earl of Bristol (1698) and his two wives. It was executed in white and grey marble by John Nost, a noted sculptor of the period. According to the epitaph his Lordship "scorned the Hurry of publick Life". The south transept Te Deum window was designed by Augustus Pugin.
The roof above the South Transept is an accurate Victorian copy of the original medieval structure, made by John Elliot in 1850. Below is the Te Deum window designed by Augustus Pugin, but now badly faded.
